Hello Families,
We started our poetry unit today. Students will be studying several different types of poems and the descriptive language that makes it possible!
Today we worked on writing color poems. We filled out poetry planning sheets that used our 5 senses and then collaborated on one whole class poem. Check out the finished product below (i.e. The Blue Poem).
They did a fantastic job! I was blown away by their creativity and imagination!
Check back soon to see some of the poetry books that students are enjoying in class.
Best,
Teacher Gaja

Title: The Blue Poem
Poets: Room 117 First Graders
Blue is a blue jay in the summer
Blue is a humming bird in the summer
Blue looks like a blue house
Blue looks like blue clouds
I smell blue clouds, a person, a peeled blue crayon
I feel the blue sky, the blue waves
Blue tastes like blueberry pancakes, blueberry pie
Blue is a great color
Blue is a kind of fish
Blue is a chair, a blue lapis lazuli, a blue yak
Blue is a humming bird in the summer
Blue looks like a blue house
Blue looks like blue clouds
I smell blue clouds, a person, a peeled blue crayon
I feel the blue sky, the blue waves
Blue tastes like blueberry pancakes, blueberry pie
Blue is a great color
